IT IS NOT MY FAULT
It is not my fault
That all through the years
I have distressingly lived in tears
For the immense anguish I could not bear
It is not my fault
That I have no food to eat
For I could not get a single gig
To earn me a decent meal
That my stomach grumbles
For my background is so humble
That life is always a gamble
It is not my fault
That I stagger in drunkenness
For the heavy burdens I hold
Earnestly push one to be bold
It is not my fault
That the beautiful miss I had tamed
Flew away in haste
For her fancy needs were illusions
It is not my fault
That you contemptuously look down on me
I only wish that you could clearly see
The unblemished man I aspire to be.
